Villa Constitución, Argentina

It’s been almost a month since I switched internships and I have to say that so far it’s been for the better. Villa Constitución is a small town about 45 minutes by freeway, or an hour and a half by city bus.  It’s on the same river (Río Paraná), just upstream.  The town itself does not have a lot of excitement, but the people are very warm and welcoming.  My new living situation is perfect. There are two houses for one large family.  I live with Pablo and his mom in one house and in the other house, Luis, Vero, and Eva, their four year old daughter.  Eva keeps me pretty busy when I’m at home, making up new names for me (so far she has called me, Flecha con papel, Nico, Lardon, and Karla), playing a game that she always wins, and swimming in the pool.

Apart from the family I volunteer for an organization called Engranajes.  They are apart of a larger organization called the CTA. The organization is responsible for running a kindergarten, a co-op, which provides food and other catering events, actives in poor neighborhoods, etc.  In March, the kids will be coming back from summer vacation which will help me get a better idea of how will the organization works.  So far I’ve been painting the school/office, working on videos/website for the organization, and general cleaning.  Here is a video that I edited for the organization (the drumming is a traditional music from Uruguay called Murga)
